A Study of Sickness Absenteeism Among Various Hospital Employees

A Study of Sickness Absenteeism Among Various Hospital Employees Abstract Sickness absenteeism, especially among hospital workers, is a source of worry owing to the poor economic and morale consequences. The first step of the research was to identify groups of hospital workers who are at greater risk of illness absenteeism based on demographic (sex, age, marital status) and occupational (occupational group, length of hospital employment) factors. A comparison with data from a research conducted in the same hospital approximately 15 years earlier revealed an increase in the length of absences while simultaneously decreasing their frequency.  Sickness absenteeism was greater among female, mostly unskilled, employees who were currently or previously married, aged 45 to 60, and had worked in a hospital for more than 10 years.
