MBA Marketing - Leadership in the age of Digitalization Abstract Existing businesses and organizations are being fundamentally transformed by digitalization and digital transformation (Collin, 2015). However, despite being considered a major challenge for leaders of complex and changing organizations, research in the combined fields of digitalization and leadership is still lacking. This study aims to understand how top management leadership is affected by digital transformation, as executives are tasked with leading digital transformation. A two-pronged approach is used to achieve this goal: outlining six characteristics of digitalization and examining how these characteristics affect three contemporary forms of leadership: values-based, transformative, and authentic leadership.
