Strengths and Weaknesses of ERP in Supply Chain Management
Strengths and Weaknesses of ERP in Supply Chain Management Abstract The findings of a research on the future effect of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems on Supply Chain Management are presented in this article (SCM). The Delphi research included 23 European multinational supply chain executives from the Netherlands. This exploratory research yielded three results. To begin, our leaders have identified the following major SCM problems over the next several years: (1) greater integration of activities between suppliers and customers across the entire supply chain; (2) ongoing changes in supply chain needs and the need for IT flexibility; (3) more mass customization of products and services, resulting in increased assortments while decreasing cycle times and inventories; (4) the location of the entire supply chain's driver's seat; and (5) supply chains undergoing transformation.
