Introduction

Performance management should be seen as a fluid process rather than a rigid structure. The word "system" connotes a strict, standardised, and bureaucratic approach, which is at odds with the idea of performance management as a fluid and evolving, though coherent, process used by managers in collaboration with their teams in response to the conditions in which they operate. Employee retention and innovation methods are utilised to enhance employee performance, thus the emphasis should be on enhancing the PMS.
