B-Segment Cars in India - Study of Consumer Behavior
Abstract
India's automobile industry is one of the world's largest, and it continues to grow each year. Since automobile loans became more readily available, salary structures rose, and middle-class buyers' purchasing power increased, there has been an explosion of cars on the road. The purpose of this paper is to examine the buying habits of Indian automobile buyers.
As well as an analysis of the literature, a questionnaire survey was conducted to understand the various factors that influence car purchases in India. It was created in Google Forms and sent out via email, WhatsApp, Facebook, etc. In order to assist those who were not familiar with these tools, a hard copy of the questionnaire was made available to them. The results of the survey were statistically analyzed and are presented in this document as well.
Introduction
India's automobile industry is among the world's largest, contributing 7.1% of the country's GDP. As a person's income rises, purchasing a car becomes a top priority. Ownership of a car is becoming less and less of a luxury. India allows 100 percent Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in this sector, so investors do not need any prior permission. Commercial vehicles increased by 3.03 percent, while two-wheelers grew by 8.29 percent between April and January 2017.
Conclusion
Type and brand image of cars and manufacturers influence car buying behavior, according to the study. Because of this, it is vital that they maintain their brand's reputation. A potential car buyer's decision is influenced more by engine type and efficiency than by good advertising with detailed features. When planning the production and marketing of their cars, the manufacturers must keep these things in mind.
