Introduction
Sullivan and Baruch (2009) defined "career" as "an individual's work-related and other relevant experiences, both inside and outside of organisations, that form a unique pattern over the individual's life span," distinguishing both physical movement and the interpretation of individual's perceptions of the career. Career management is defined as the planning of one's actions and engagements in the work one takes throughout the course of one's life in order to achieve greater completion, development, and financial stability (Juneja, n.d.). Furthermore, the Alberta Career Development Association defines career development as "the lifetime process of managing study, employment, leisure, and transitions in order to progress toward an individually chosen and changing desired future" (2012).

Conclusion
To summarise, a career development plan is critical for both employers and workers, since it provides many advantages for both. It is difficult to do so successfully, but it is possible if all career management components are included while developing and executing a career development plan.
