Production Plan and Control on Operational Cost of Manufacturing industry

Abstract

In most developing nations, particularly  production planning and operating costs in manufacturing sectors are significant concerns. Production planning and operational cost management are becoming more important for both government and private organisations in order to satisfy the growing demand for products and services in any given area. The purpose of this study was to determine the extent to which the beverage industry uses and implements production planning and control, as well as how important it is to the businesses' operational cost reduction and expenditures.

Despite the fact that just three beverage manufacturing firms were examined, the findings of this study will be applicable to the rest of the industry. There were a total of 97 samples gathered from the three organisations. In the study, descriptive and inferential statistics were used. The research revealed that the businesses made choices based on production planning and control. This was shown by enthusiastic responses to queries on the use of plans for material requirements, manufacturing resources, and just-in-time delivery.

Introduction

Production planning and control is a technique that managers may use to accomplish their stated goals.
Production planning and control is the management and coordination of a company's resources in order to achieve predetermined objectives. It aids in achieving a continuous flow of materials at the necessary quality and at the appropriate time. The series of actions carried out before to the actual manufacturing process is referred to as production planning. These include the manufacturing schedule, cost-effective batch sizes, priority dispatch, and operating sequence. Production control, on the other hand, guarantees that all production plans, such as commencement of production, dispatching of goods, and monitoring of production operations, are carried out.

Conclusion

The study of beverage manufacturing firms revealed that production planning and control are influenced by a number of factors, including material requirements, manufacturing resources, organisational development goals, and just-in-time delivery. As a result, its successful implementation indicates that production planning and control are heavily used. A cost model, which creates a connection between cost reduction and production planning components, was also utilized to bolster the relevance of production planning to cost minimization. This means that there isn't simply a link between production planning and operating costs; efficient production planning and management will help beverage manufacturing businesses expand by increasing profits.
