Project Report Customer Perception Regarding the Demit Account Services
Introduction
Trading in Indian stock exchanges used to be done via open outcry, with no use of information technology for instant matching or recording of transactions. This took a long time and was inefficient. This limited trade volumes and efficiency. To improve efficiency, liquidity, and transparency, the NSE launched a nationwide on-line fully automated screen-based trading system in which a member can enter the quantities of securities and prices at which he wishes to transact, and the transaction is executed as soon as it finds a matching sale or buy order from a counter party. A screen-based electronic system automatically matches orders based on a tight price/time priority, saving time, money, and reducing the risk of mistake and fraud, resulting in increased operational efficiency.
It enables the quicker integration of price sensitive knowledge into current prices, improving market formational efficiency. It allows market participants, regardless of their geographical location, to trade with one another at the same time, increasing the market's depth and liquidity. It offers complete anonymity by taking orders, large or little, from members without disclosing their identities, allowing everyone equal access.
It also offers a flawless audit trial, which aids in the resolution of disputes by recording the whole transaction execution procedure. The NSE drew liquidity from other exchanges and became the main stock market in the nation in its first year of operation, affecting the fortunes of other exchanges and pushing them to implement SBTS as well. Today, India can claim that computerized order matching accounts for almost 100 percent of all trade. Dematerialization of shares is now being presented as a "new concept," converting paper-based physical trade to electronic trading.
It is a secure and easy method of storing securities. The use of a screen-based trading system allows for quicker transfer of securities and eliminates the need for stamp duty on transfers of securities. The trading system follows a rigorous price time priority structure. All orders received on the system are sorted, with the best-priced order taking precedence for matching, i.e. the best purchase order matching with the best sell order.
