Study of Factors Associated with Sickness Absenteeism among Industrial Workers
Abstract
Sickness absenteeism is a possible epidemiological problem that may result in lost productivity as well as increased health-care costs, and it can be a useful tool in improving occupational health-care prevention efforts. The purpose of this study was to find out how common illness absenteeism is among industrial workers in Hyderabad's pharmaceutical manufacturing businesses, as well as the variables that contribute to it. Materials and Procedures: Using a simple random selection method, a cross sectional research was conducted among 160 employees at two pharmaceutical manufacturing firms in Hyderabad. Through a camp-based approach, data on individual, occupational, and organisational variables affecting their illness absence and general health status in the previous six months was collected. To predict the factors related with the result, data was analysed using descriptive statistics and multinomial logistic regression analysis.

Introduction
Sickness According to the Euro definition, absenteeism is described as a temporary, extended, or permanent inability to work as a consequence of illness or disability. 1 This is an increasingly significant epidemiological health problem since it has both economic and public health consequences by increasing medical care and social security expenses, as well as a reduction in workforce, resulting in lower productivity and economic output. According to the International Labour Organization, about 2.78 million people die each year as a result of job-related accidents or illnesses, resulting in more than four days off work. Poor workplace safety and health standards are projected to cost the global economy 3.94 percent of its GDP per year.

Conclusion
Our research has shown that bad colleague and superior connections, as well as mental stress, are major determinants of the result. We need to establish a friendly connection between bosses and coworkers in the workplace. Workplace stress reduction via the provision of recreational and welfare facilities, as well as in-house personality development training. For individuals who have a high level of attendance, there are incentives to help them stay motivated. Counseling chronic absentees via employee assistance programmes, frequent medical exams, and workplace activities that promote ergonomic principles for postural maintenance must all be done on a regular basis to minimise sick leave.
