Study of HR Practices & Process of Performance Appraisal

Abstract

A performance assessment is also known as an employee appraisal or a performance review. It is a technique for evaluating an employee's work performance in terms of quality, quantity, cost, behaviour, and time. It is led by myself, my peers, my seniors, and my junior. Performance assessment is the examination of current accomplishments and failures, personal strengths and weaknesses, and appropriateness for incentives, awards, and recognition, salary raises, promotions, or further training. Finally, it demonstrates the person's appropriateness for the organisation in their current position.
The purpose of this research was to examine the idea of performance assessment, its goals, and the method for conducting performance appraisals. HR professionals will benefit from the research since they will get a better grasp of the idea and how to perform it effectively.

Introduction

Organizations are formed to accomplish certain goals. Individual employee performance determines whether or not objectives or targets are met. When tasks are given to workers and they do them, the goals may be achieved. Otherwise, they will not be met. The issue now is how far the work has progressed in accordance with the plan. Whether or not the responsibility, accountability, and performance criteria were fulfilled. As a result, it's critical to know how effective workers have been at their employment in terms of achieving their objectives. When employee performance is assessed at the end of the year, this information will be accessible. If this is not done, the management would be unaware of the actual situation regarding the goals met. They will be in the dark, and there is a possibility that their plans may fail. Planning takes place at the start of the performance management process.

Conclusion

After reviewing the research, we can conclude that an appraisal is an examination of an individual's performance, which often involves an evaluation of the individual's present and previous job performance. In general, the evaluation process is carried out for two purposes. The first is the control purpose, which entails determining salary, promotion, and career choices. The second step is determining an individual's developmental requirements.
