Introduction

Pay, in one form or another, is unquestionably one of the most important sources of incentive in our culture. Pay has surpassed symbolic significance, according to Ghisclli and Hyman Porter, Haired and Mason (1963).

Despite the preceding philosophical phase, which defines compensation pay or incentive as a useful tool in organisational development, significant changes are currently impacting the world of work. According to "Coscio 1995," they are the consequence of increased global competitiveness, the influence of information technology, the re-engineering of business processes, and the progressive degradation and elimination of the job as a set bundle of tasks.

This trend is causing a re-definition of the job itself, and it is from this perspective that management can be viewed as an intermediary between the organization and the individual employee, focusing on, developing, and implementing policies for attracting, retaining, and motivating the individual within an organization.
