The Relevance of Human Resource in Today’s Business Environment
The Relevance of Human Resource in Today’s Business Environment
Introduction
John Bratton and Jeffrey Gold described human resource management as a collection of activities that define the nature of work and govern the employment relationship. Likert (1996) defines it as "people's talents and knowledge applied to the production of goods and services." As a result, the word connotes man in connection to the realm of labor. According to Harbrison (1998), manpower is defined as a human person, or that component of the management process that specializes in the administration of people in work organisations. Human resource management (HRM) stresses the importance of workers in attaining long-term productivity.
Without first defining what the terms "human resource" and "management" imply, the definition of human resource management would be inadequate. People in work organisations are gifted with a variety of skills, talents, and attitudes that affect productivity, quality, and profitability. People create work processes, manufacture products and services, check quality, allocate financial resources, and market.
Objective
i. Recognizing the significance of human resource management (HRM) to a company.
ii. Identifying the issues with human resource management in commercial companies.
iii. Identifying the link between successful human resource management and corporate profitability.
iv. Examining the HRM process and its effect on organisational productivity.
Conclusion
Corporations are experiencing major changes that will have a substantial impact on how human resources are handled and how the HR function is best structured and managed. The factors driving change include the fast deployment of information technology, the globalisation of the economy, and companies' more competitive and dynamic business environments. There is increasing agreement that effective human capital is essential to an organization's success and that the HR function's emphasis must shift to be more strategic.
Employees may contribute effectively and productively to the overall business direction and the achievement of the organization's goals and objectives when Human Resources Management is successful. Employees are the most significant value in the workplace. As a result, Human Resources Management is a critical element in a company's success. Being a part of a global world and global competitive market processes requires companies to handle the human element more effectively at all levels.
